For Indians, the OG comfort food is dal chawal. When eaten with hands, it offers a whole new level of deliciousness. While people from across the world tend to appreciate the diverse cuisine India offers, they usually struggle to adapt to the art of eating with their hands. They usually rely on spoons, forks and knives as usual. Recently, a viral video showcased how a Japanese influencer switched from eating with cutlery to eating with his hands. The clip represented a beautiful blend of Indian and Japanese traditions.

Koki Shishido, a Japanese influencer, shared a glimpse of his culinary journey in India, and trust us, it's an adventure worth savouring. In the first snippet, Koki is seen eating rice and curry consciously with a spoon. Fast forward a year, and you won't believe the outcome. The Japanese influencer embraced the Indian tradition with full gusto: in the next snippet, he is seen relishing dal chawal with his hand. We also see him enjoying the sliced onions typically served with the food. But what delighted us the most was hearing him say, "Bhaiyya ek plate de do na." [Waiter, please give me one plate].

Just when you thought it couldn't get any better, he wrapped up the meal by savouring some saunf (fennel seeds), a quintessential treat served after meals at many desi restaurants to aid digestion. As the video reaches its delightful climax, Koki raises his hand in the air asking for the bill (in the classic Indian way). The Instagram reel is a perfect blend of two beautiful cultures, coming together in harmony over a shared love for food and tradition. Take a look at his video below:
