Kolhapuri fish is a popular Maharashtrian curry that goes best with rice. Shallow fried fish cooked with an onion and spice mix.

Ingredients of Kolhapuri Fish
- 1 kg fish filleted and cubed
- 2/3 cup yoghurt
- 1 Tbsp turmeric powder
- 2 Tbsp chilli powder
- 1 Tbsp garlic paste
- 1 1/2 Tbsp salt or to taste
- 1 Tbsp lemon juice
- 2 Tbsp oil
- 1 Bay leaf
- 1 Tbsp broken cinnamon
- 6 cloves
- 1 Tbsp crushed black pepper
- 1 cup chopped onions
- 2 Tbsp grated coconut
- 2 Tbsp oil
- 1 cup chopped tomato
- Coriander leaves for garnish
How to Make Kolhapuri Fish

Mix turmeric, chilli powder, garlic paste, salt and lemon juice into the yoghurt and marinate the fish in it for about 10 minutes.

Heat some oil. Add bay leaf, cinnamon, cloves, black pepper and onions.

Saute till onions are soft. Add coconut and saute till a light brown.

Add tomatoes and cook till access water dries up.
5.
Blend the whole mixture in a blender. Keep aside.

Heat the rest of the oil and add the fish.
7.
Stir fry over high heat till opaque.
8.
Add the spice paste and simmer over low heat till fish is cooked through.
9.
Garnish with coriander leaves and serve.
