Review: The Turkey Project At Defence Colony Is Bringing Back Comfort Food In A Quirky Avatar
The Turkey Project in Defense Colony offers an interesting blend of Italian and American cuisine.

In a time when the F&B world is brimming with food innovations, fusion and experiments, simple, comfort foods are being missed by a wide section of foodies. The Turkey Project, the newest entrant in town, is bringing back favourites with a flavourful spark. Nestled in the quiet neighbourhood of Defence Colony, here is a contemporary-style sangria bar and cafe that offers everything you need for a beautiful, pleasant evening.

The Turkey Project's cosy look and feel is amplified with huge glass doors, wooden framing and neutral hues. It creates a refreshing, upscale vibe that is appealing, despite its limited space.

The menu, helmed by owner and Chef Kabir Chugh, is a fantastic blend of Italian, American and continental classics, offering a range of options crafted with finesse. So what would be the first thing to do when you enter a sangria bar? Order a sangria, of course! TTP sure spoils you with choice here. We sat with some of the best ones from the menu, starting with Bombshell Betty Sangria made with red wine with berry juice and forest berry sorbet. Next was Marvellous Midgo with pulpy litchi flavour in white wine. We also liked their Foxy Fiona, a white wine-based sangria with the goodness of orange, chilli, and mango sorbet.

The wholesome fare at The Turkey Project impresses on counts of portion and quality. We loved how generous they were with cheese in their liquid cheese balls. Crispy from outside, oozing with cheese inside this decadent delight was served with honey chipotle and barbecue sauce. If you are a fan of truffle flavour, we suggest you go for their truffle ravioli. The combination of mellow truffle oil and the goodness of parmesan can never go wrong. Avocado lovers should try their creamy avo toasts. The Fricken' is for day you are craving chicken and all things fried, creamy and indulgent. Succulent, juicy boneless chicken crispy fried and served with garlic mayo and sriracha sauce, Fricken' is a treat for chicken lovers.

The Turkey Project has something for everyone and that includes some amazing seafood too! Try the vino prawns that are tossed with garlic, turkey bacon and white wine. For mains you can go for seared sole fish that is laced with a lemon hint of caper beurre blanc sauce, served with a side of crispy garlicky veggies and breads. The menu has an amazing and quirky line-up of burgers in Rock-a-fella, lamb of God and many more. The thin crust pizzas such Philly cheese steak pizza or the Santorini summer pizza are a must-try as well.

So the next time you are around Defence Colony, try ditching the usual crowd pullers and check out The Turkey Project for a calm ambiance. With their lovely playlist, sumptuous spread of food and a glass of sangria, you might just find your go-to place.
