Indo-Chinese food, especially noodles, momos, fried rice, and stir-fried vegetables, seem incomplete without this fiery condiment – Schezwan sauce. It's hot, spicy and basically, a mouth-watering combination of some amazingly flavourful ingredients. Schezwan sauce not only jazzes up the meal but also enhances its overall taste lending more flavours to the food prepared. But, instead of buying it from the market, do you ever wonder if schezwan sauce can be prepared at home? Well, yes, celebrity chef Saransh Goila recently shared a perfect recipe for schezwan sauce that can be easily prepared within the comfort of your home.

In the caption, he wrote, “Schezwan sauce that'll go perfectly with momos, noodles, papad, bhel, I mean whatever you like!”      

Ingredients:

250 Kashmiri dried red chillies

4 Guntur red chillies

1/2 cup toasted sesame oil

2 star anise

2 tablespoons garlic (chopped)

2 tablespoons ginger (chopped)

2 tablespoons of onion paste.

Chilli paste

3 tablespoons soy sauce

2 tablespoons rice wine vinegar

3 tablespoons ketchup

Salt to taste

1 tablespoon of sugar

1/2 cup water

Here's how you can make some fiery schezwan sauce?

1)Take Kashmiri dried red chillies and Guntur chillies, remove the stems and soak them in boiling hot water for about an hour. Once soaked, blend into a coarse paste.

2) In a separate pan, heat toasted sesame oil. Put star anise, chopped ginger and garlic and saute the mixture until it gets translucent. Put onion paste as per the quantity mentioned and mix well.

3) Now, add the prepared chilli paste to the mixture. Cook for a few minutes and add a few more ingredients including soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, ketchup, salt, and sugar. Finally, add some water and mix well. Cook it on a medium flame until the oil starts separating. schezwan sauce is ready.
