Having a stable job that pays well and more importantly pays off your bills during this pandemic is truly a blessing. However, there are days when you love your job and days when you absolutely despise it. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, several restaurants have been short-staffed leaving the people who are employed feeling the pressure of working even more. Everyone has, at some point in time, felt that irresistible urge to quit their job, and this Twitter post shared by a user who goes by the name Great Ape Dad is something you will definitely resonate with.
The post is a picture of a note posted outside one of the branches of the American fast-food chain McDonald's that reads: “We are closed because I am quitting and I hate this job.”
The post garnered over 1 lakh likes and 10k retweets. Here's the post captioned, “Seen at our local McDonald's.”
The comments on this post were interesting and engaging, with various users giving their opinions and sharing their own stories and experiences from their respective jobs.
One user, who had a funny take, wrote, “How did the ice cream machine type this?”
In response, the person who tweeted the post shared another image of a sign placed earlier outside the same venue. It was funny due to the number of spelling errors, making it seem like the sign had been typed by a machine. He captioned the image “I think they did type this.”
Several users were also quick to explain that the image, while evoking laughter, was reflective of the pressures faced by the hospitality industry in light of the pandemic and commented on the struggles they are facing in their own industry.
One user commented, “I'm working a job where we have less than half the employees that corporate has deemed required for the business to function and I am exhausted.”
Another user praised the person who posted the notice outside the restaurant saying, “Wait, did they seriously have a shift of one person at an entire Mcdonald's such that one person quitting mid-shift shut it all down? I'm willing to believe that, but my goodness, the sheer amount of neglectful staffing involved.”
