Chef Thitid Tassanakajohn was recently in Delhi to celebrate Thai cuisine in India. For the ones who are new to the culinary world, Chef Thitid Tassanakajohn, or Chef Ton as he is popularly known, is the mastermind behind the kitchens of the one Michelin star Le Du in Bangkok and Nusara—both of which are in Asia's 50 Best Restaurants list. He is also the celebrity chef judge on Top Chef Thailand, one of the most popular cooking shows in the region.
On the balmy afternoon of 28 January 2023, The Leela Ambience Gurugram hosted an experiential dining pop-up with Chef Ton who showcased an exclusive gastronomic repertoire of his modern Thai signature dishes with an 8-course menu paired with exciting cocktails, at Zanotta. He gave a creative twist to the classic Thai dishes which highlight local seasonal ingredients that are blended with flavour and zest. Upon meeting him, he told us his interest in using all things local and sustainable not only to support the local farmers of the country but also to keep the flavours of the dishes as authentic as possible.
This 8-course dinner by Chef Ton was one that was truly Thai at heart! From Ma-hor and Poh-tak to Thai-style Gazpcho and Smoked Pumpkin, every bite was sprinkled with a whole lot of deliciousness!
Ashish Bhasin, Director of F&B Service and Culinary at The Leela Ambience Gurugram Hotel & Residences said, "We are extremely elated to bring Chef Ton onboard for this exclusive pop-up to showcase his culinary mastery at our hotel. We are sure that our guests will enjoy this Michelin Star culinary extravaganza, complemented by The Leela's signature hospitality."
Raaj Sanghvi, Food and Drinks expert said, "We're thrilled to bring Chef Ton and his amazing team from Bangkok to Gurugram for the first time, he is doing a very exciting menu and the dinners have had an overwhelming response. We are grateful to The Leela Ambience Gurugram as well as our long-standing partner Diageo who have made this event possible!"
