When it is the time to mark any Indian festivities, mithai is a significant part of them. We have boxes lined up with kaju katli, gulab jamun, rasgullas, and so much more. No matter the occasion, we do our best to bring the top quality of mithais to our friends and families. However, while quality is one thing, would you ever pay INR 25,000 per kg for a sweet!? That sounds like a lot of money, right? Well, believe it or not, recently, a sweet shop in UP created a ''golden ghevar'' for Raksha Bandhan. This gold-plated ghevar costs INR 25,000 per kilo!
This sweet is made by Braj Rasayan Mitthan Bhandar in Agra, close to Shah Market. People have been swarming the shop to see and purchase the treat ever since it arrived. Despite the high cost, sources state that 12 kg of Golden Ghevar had already been sold.

The store owner Tushar Gupta told ANI, this ''golden ghevar'' contains a combination of dried fruits, pistachios, almonds, peanuts, and walnuts, with a layer of malai with ice cream flavour on top.
In a video posted by ANI, we can see this gold ghevar enclosed in a box as a curious crowd surrounds it. In the tweet, ANI informed that on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, a sweet shop in UP has made these ghevars and talked about their cost. They also added that the specialty of this ghevar is that it has a 24-karat layer of gold on top of it. Check out their video here:
The craze of adding gold-plated layers on top of the food has only increased in the past few years. From cafes and restaurants to even street vendors, many have created gold-plated food that attracts food lovers. In most cases, people pay a higher cost for such food items. In certain reviews, food bloggers have also said that such foods have an average taste and are not worth spending too much money on.
