Garlic, ginger, onion and tomato are some of the staple ingredients of south Asian cuisines. Although expert cooks are extremely familiar with their usage and nomenclature, other novice chefs may be left confused between them. In a recent video that surfaced on social media, a major naming goof-up by a Pakistan minister was caught on camera. The minister was trying to recall the Hindi name for garlic, and instead of saying 'Lehsun', he said, "Garlic is Adrak". Twitter users were left in splits after seeing the funny faux pas which soon went viral on the micro-blogging platform. Take a look:

The clip was posted on Twitter by user @nailainayat, where it has garnered over 260k views and thousands of likes. "Garlic is adrak," information minister Fawad Chaudhry. One learns a new thing every day," wrote the user in her tweet.

The 22-second video was from a press conference where rising prices of vegetables and ingredients were being discussed. The Minister for Information and Broadcasting of Pakistan, Fawad Chaudhry, was featured in the video and he was apparently putting forward a proposal to reduce the prices of these vegetables. After struggling to remember the Hindi term for garlic, he was prompted by others that it was called 'Lehsun'. However, he suddenly backtracked and said, "No no, garlic is adrak."

The funny clip definitely cracked up Twitter and left users in splits. While some could relate to the confusion by the Pakistan minister and called it an honest mistake, others simply laughed at the gaffe. Take a look at the reactions:
