From the classic boiled, fried, or scrambled variations to the more intricate masala omelettes, eggs take on diverse forms in Indian kitchens. Whether it's the spicy Anda Bhurji, a delightful Egg Curry, or the beloved street-style Egg Frankie, Indians have mastered the art of infusing eggs with a symphony of spices, creating an array of dishes that cater to diverse palates. Recently, a video has been circulating on the Internet of a Patna street stall vendor preparing “egg pouch” with a twist, and some have found it rather egg-citing!

In the video, the vendor skillfully prepares his dish using a special utensil with 7 semi-circular moulds, positioned above a bed of burning coals. The vendor is seen systematically pouring oil, green chillies, a touch of haldi, and salt into each of the seven compartments. With a deft hand, he mixes the ingredients using a stick before delicately cracking two eggs into each section. Next, he adds finely chopped onions, fresh coriander leaves, and an array of assorted masalas. Allowing the eggs to cook thoroughly, the vendor then flipped them over. Once both sides are perfectly cooked, he transfers the so-called "egg pouches" to a bowl.  Watch the complete video here:

The video, posted just three days ago, has already received over 13 million views. Several users have compared the dish to “Takoyaki”, a Japanese delicacy which looks like a small round dumpling made of an egg-rich batter. “Takoyaki no no Egg pouch,” a comment read.

Someone else added, “Such takoyaki is also made in Japan but the process is a little different.”

Another user wrote, “Now these people add a lot of spices. When they put the spices accordingly, it tastes very good.”

One recalled their childhood, saying, “Used to eat a lot in the cold in childhood. If there was trouble with the stove at home in the cold, then we would go out and eat 2 eggs every day.”

Another sarcastically commented, "Masala kaam hogeya. Thora sa aur dedo." ["The spices turned out to be too less. Give some more."]
