1. Sheermal

This particular bread was popularised by the Mughals. It still happens to be one of the hot selling items in Purani Delhi (Old Delhi). The aromatic and slightly sweet bread is famously paired with niharis, and kormas. Soft and mildly flavoured with saffron, sheermal is a delicious bread you must try out in Delhi.

2. Bakarkhani

You are most likely to find the Kashmiri bread in the bylanes of old Delhi or Nizammuddin, but nowadays many North Indian and Mughlai restaurants also offer the flaky bread with a tough crust and soft interior. It is traditionally sprinkled over with some sesame seeds. Cut in quarters, bakarkhani is usually teamed with kormas, keemas and kalias.

3. Butter Naan

You saw this coming, didn't you? This chewy and buttery maida-based flatbread can be paired with almost anything. 4. Bhatura

In many households in Delhi, a Sunday is deemed incomplete without a plate of piping hot chhole bhature. Yes, that is how popular the dish is with the Delhiites. Bhaturas are soft and puffy breads made with all-purpose flour. People use all sorts of raising agents, from soda to curd, to make it fluffier. 5. Lachha Paratha

The layered and flaky bread can be called a close cousin of Malabar paratha. Made by stretching the maida dough repeatedly, each layer of this bread is crispy, thin and oh-so-delicious. Team it with any spicy or mellow curry and you are good to go!
