Easy Tawa Kulcha Recipe: How To Make Kulcha On A Tawa

  • Begin by combining the water, yogurt, and oil. P.S. Use a measuring cup with a spout to make pouring easier. In a mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar, and salt.
  • To add the yogurt mixture, make a well in the centre of the flour. Start gently blending yogurt and flour together with a spoon or your fingers. Don't begin kneading right away.
  • Form the dough into a ball, cover it with a damp cloth, and set it aside for 4-5 hours to ferment. Knead the fermented dough for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  • Create 6 to 8 equal portions out of the dough. Form into small balls. Flatten the balls and roll them into a 4 or 5inch circle with a rolling pin. If the dough is smooth, no dry flour dusting is required; a little oil may be used if necessary.
  • Roll once or twice to ensure that the nigella seeds and cilantro are evenly distributed. Heat up a large tawa. Check that the tawa is hot. Place the kulcha on the tawa. Flip the kulcha with tongs or a flat spatula; sprinkle a little water on the tawa, and cover immediately. Allow it to cook in steam for about 20-25 seconds.
  • Serve hot and enjoy!
