This dish, also called meethe chawal, is supposed to have been introduced to the Indian subcontinent by the Mughals. The name 'Zarda Pulao' is said to be derived from the Persian word 'Zard,' which directly translates to yellow, referring to the colour of the dish.

For making this dish, you usually require rich ingredients like dry fruits, saffron and sugar with rice. But often, many of us struggle with getting that perfect sweet taste. Here he makes use of leftover sugar syrup, among other ingredients.

In the video he uploaded, he first added two tablespoons of ghee in a pan. Then he added almonds, chopped cashews, raisins, melon seeds, turmeric powder and roasted them lightly. Once that was done, he threw in sugar syrup and boiled it. Next, he added washed and soaked rice. He cooked the rice for 10 minutes without covering it.
