The news in no time garnered attention across the country and people took to social media to react to it. "Amul milk prices hiked by Rs. 2 per litre. Now we can't even say "doodh maangoge kheer denge (ask for milk and I will give you kheer)" to enemies because doodh to itna mehenga hogaya hai (milk price has increased)," wrote a person on Twitter. Another tweet read, "Amul has raised milk prices by Rs. 2 per litre yesterday. That's a hike of around four percent per litre."

A third comment reads, "Vaise as the saying goes from trusted sources "there is no manhagaai (inflation)", and we are advised to pour less milk over tea to keep fitness fit, surprisingly, how Amul, Mother Dairy raised similar amounts simultaneously, unless it is some cartel working behind."
