China's street food scene has surprised the internet with an unusual snack that looks almost impossible to eat. Content creator Evelyn shared a video of the unusual food from a market, where a street food vendor can be seen selling grilled ice cubes.
The preparation looks similar to cooking meat on a barbecue. The vendor starts by putting large pieces of what looks like ice over an open flame, brushes them with oil and adds different seasonings. The ice is then topped with ingredients such as chilli powder, chopped spring onions and coriander.
While the idea may sound strange, the video shows customers taking interest in the unusual dish.

Evelyn explained that the snack is made from an ice-like jelly put directly on a grill. The vendor covers it with chilli and cumin while cooking it in the heat. He also asked her whether she wanted the snack to be crispy or soft.
The strange question left Evelyn confused, as she could not understand how frozen water can be grilled and eaten like a regular snack.
Reacting to the post, a user wrote, “I thought it was a cleaning hack.” Another shared, “Grilled what? Bruh, they are challenging science on this one.”
“Also known as a tourist trap,” a comment read. An individual stated, “The only thing I can have in China as a vegetarian.”
Another mentioned, “It's for those who crave but want to watch out for weight, great strategy, I would say.”

Evelyn did not reveal the exact location of the food stall in her video. Reports suggest that the unusual street snack can be found at a market in Changsha, in China's Hunan Province.
