Apart from its scenic locations, tourist spots, snow-capped views and vibrant culture, Kashmir is also known for its rich gastronomic fare. When you talk about the food from this region, you can't skip the wholesome Kashmiri Wazwan. Telling us more about it in detail is Nauheed Cyrusi through her latest post on Instagram. In her video, we can spot the actress wearing a vibrant Kashmiri outfit with her head covered with a veil. At the start, she can be seen seated and washing her hands in a portable, hand-engraved copper basin set, traditionally known as tash-t-naer. Meanwhile, her voiceover goes, “Ye jo Kashmir ki kali dikh rahi hai, vo apni life ka pehla wazwan experience kar rahi hai” (This Kashmir ki Kali is experiencing her first wazwan). We can also see people gathered around and enjoying a similar feast.

She further goes on to explain, “A wazwan is a multi-course ceremonial meal in Kashmiri cuisine. Jaha normally locals chaar ya paach ek ikatthe hoke ek bade thaal se khaate hai” (In this, locals gather in a group of four or five people and enjoy the food from a single thaal). It features up to 36 dishes and is predominantly mutton-based. However, at this hotel, guests can opt for a vegetarian option too. Toh jaha mera rajma, vaha uska mutton meatball, aur jaha meri nadru ki yakhni vahi Rustom ki mutton ki yakhni (So, where I have my rajma, he has his mutton meatball, and where I have my nadru ki yakhni, Rustom has his mutton yakhni). I learnt today that nadru, which is lotus stem, is a big part of the Kashmiri cuisine. Pata tha aapko? (Were you aware of it?) And of course, the haak ka saag! It's like a saag that you've never tasted before. Like, I can't compare it to anything else. For the non-vegetarians, the Laal maas and the Tabak maaz were a very big hit.”
We could see glimpses of these vibrant delights in the video. There are a variety of rice dishes, kebabs and mouth-watering curries. A video in between also showcases the actress enjoying the food with her hands.

And then the dessert arrives: kheer along with some absolutely delicious halwa. Nauheed concluded her video by saying that there definitely was a secret ingredient in every dish, and that was dheer sara pyaar (lots of love), which you could taste in every single bite, and of course the meal ended with a garmagarm kahwa (hot kahwa) aur ye bilkul sach kahawat hai ki mehmaannawazi koi Kashmiri se seekhein (One should learn hospitality from Kashmiris).
