Sanjana indulged in a plateful of a South Indian delicacy. Any guesses? No, we are not talking about idlis and dosas. The TV presenter relished the humble thayir sadam, also known as curd rice. She shared a photo of her meal, featuring the curd rice and a side of vegetables, on Instagram Stories.  Let us tell you, for Sanjana, “Home is where the thayir sadam is.”

If you are bored with the regular curd rice, give it a South Indian spin. All you have to do is temper it with mustard seeds, red chillies, dal and curry leaves. We have got you a super delicious recipe to prepare Sanjana Ganesan's yummy-looking thayir sadam at home. 

Curd Rice Recipe:

Ingredients:

  • Overcooked white rice: 250gm
  • Yoghurt: 250gm
  • Green chillies chopped: 5gm
  • Coriander leaves, chopped: 5gm
  • Ginger, chopped: 5gm
  • Salt to taste 

For the tempering:

  • Oil: 20 ml
  • Mustard seeds: 5gm
  • Black gram (skinned): 5gm
  • Chana dal: 3gm 
  • Dried red chilli: 2gm
  • Curry leaves: 2gm
  • Asafoetida (hing): 3gm 

Method:

Step1: Mix all the ingredients of curd rice - yoghurt, coriander leaves, ginger, green chillies, rice and salt. 

Prepare tempering:

Step 1: Heat the oil, and pop in some mustard seeds. 

Step 2: Once they start crackling, throw in the dal and saute until they get golden.

Step 3: Add curry leaves, red chillies and asafoetida (hing).

Step4: Now, pour this tempering on the rice and serve.
