In the heart of Rajasthan's vibrant capital, where the echoes of history dance with the rhythms of modernity, lies the Pink City - Jaipur. A canvas of distinctive architecture and a kaleidoscope of cultural hues, Jaipur beckons travellers seeking to unravel its rich heritage and lively spirit. And for those who aspire to not just witness but truly experience the regal essence of Jaipur, there exists a haven like no other - the Royal Heritage Haveli.
This luxury boutique property, once the hunting lodge of the illustrious Maharaja of Jaipur's family, stands as a testament to time. Commissioned in the 18th century by the visionary Sawai Madho Singh, the haveli has been resurrected into a haven of luxury and warmth by Maharaj Jai Singh, along with his niece Angelique and her husband Pradip. Nestled in the serene embrace of Khatipura, a tranquil neighbourhood away from the city's hustle, the Royal Heritage Haveli unfolds a regal retreat, balancing proximity to main attractions with an escape into peace.

With 23 suites and a single, character-laden apartment, each dwelling within the haveli narrates a unique story. Adorned with antique furniture, paintings, and artefacts that echo the haveli's heritage, the suites are an elegant blend of the past and present. Bathrooms, dripping in luxury with marble flooring, rain showers, and organic toiletries, offer a sensory retreat.
Beyond the lavish accommodations, the haveli beckons with a plethora of delights - a spa named Frangipani, a rejuvenating swimming pool, a cosy library, and a stylish lounge. Frangipani, an ethereal sanctuary, pampers guests with natural and organic treatments. The pool, a refreshing oasis, invites languorous dips or lounging on sun-kissed beds. The lounge offers a chic space to savour a drink or snack, serenaded by soothing melodies.

However, the crowning jewel of the Royal Heritage Haveli is its culinary odyssey. Mehrab, Kigelia Court and Cibo Bistro, the two regal restaurants and one bistro within the haveli unfurl a gastronomic tapestry spanning Indian to Continental cuisines. Culinary maestro, Chef Prithvi Oli masterfully revives forgotten recipes of Khatipura, employing traditional methods and locally sourced ingredients.
Amidst the culinary symphony, the haveli takes pride in its Rajasthani offerings, renowned for their spicy allure. Narangi Maas, a distant cousin of the famed Laal Maas, tantalised my taste buds. Lamb, yogurt, and orange juice coalesced in a delightful dance of tanginess and spice. Paired with biryani and papad ki sabzi, it was an opulent feast for the senses.

The director of the haveli, Shambhavi Singh, is a gracious and charming hostess, who personally oversees the operations and interacts with the guests. She told me that she inherited the haveli from her mother, Angelique, who was the niece of the Maharaja of Jaipur. She said that she wanted to preserve the legacy of the haveli and share it with the world. She also shared some interesting stories and anecdotes about the history and culture of the haveli and Rajasthan.
The Royal Heritage Haveli transcends the boundaries of a mere hotel; it is an immersion into the regal grandeur of Rajasthan fused seamlessly with modern comfort. Here, guests traverse the corridors of time, absorbing the elegance of a bygone era while discovering the vivacity of Jaipur. It is a sanctuary where visitors are not just treated as guests but embraced as part of an extended royal family, savouring the essence of true hospitality. In the grandeur of the Royal Heritage Haveli, Jaipur's allure is not just witnessed; it is lived.
