This festival is also marked in Andhra Pradesh, where it is referred to as Atla Tadde. According to the lunisolar calendar, every year Karwa Chauth falls on the fourth day after 'Purnima' in the month of Kartika. This year, it falls on November 1, 2023. On this day, women observe nirjala fast from sunrise to moonrise and worship the Moon God wishing for matrimonial bliss. Another significant ritual during the festival is sargi. It is basically a meal hamper loaded with good food, jewelleries, and clothes that the mother-in-law presents to her daughter-in-law.
