The weekend is upon us and that means indulging in tasty mouth-watering treats. And giving us the motivation we need to set foot into our kitchen is none other than Chef Gordon Ramsay. The celebrity chef posted a video on his Instagram timeline showcasing his version of a classic BLT sandwich. For the uninitiated, a BLT is a simple type of sandwich named with the initials of the ingredients used to make it – bacon, lettuce, and tomatoes. While this sandwich is traditionally a meat lover's dream, Chef Ramsay has put a vegan spin on it using vegan bacon made from scratch.

To make Chef Gordon Ramsay's vegan BLT sandwich you will need the following ingredients:
For the vegan bacon:
Rice Paper Sheets
Tofu
Sriracha
Garlic powder
Smoked Paprika
Maple Syrup
Soy Sauce
Vegan butter
Water
Pepper
To make the vegan bacon:
Keep the tofu pressed under a heavy dish overnight. Melt the vegan butter in a saucepan. In a dish assemble all the spices and mix in the water, melted butter, soy sauce, sriracha, and maple syrup. Crumble the pressed tofu into tiny granules and add a few tablespoons of the liquid marinade to it. Cut the rice paper sheets into thin strips and dip the strips into the marinade and set them aside. Add the crumbled tofu on each sheet and cover it with another dipped sheet. Set these on a baking tray and bake in an oven for 10-12 minutes.
For the sandwich:
Loaf of brioche bread
Lettuce
Tomatoes
Avocado
Chef Ramsay also prepared a vegan aioli sauce to add as a base instead of mayonnaise. To make this basil aioli, you need to use vegan eggs and whisk them along with avocado oil. Add mustard, basil, lemon zest in a blender along with whisked vegan eggs and oil. Add salt, pepper, and a squeeze of lemon juice to it.
To assemble the sandwich:
Grill your brioche bread slices with vegan butter. Slather the vegan aioli on one slice of toasted bread. Add lettuce and tomato sprinkled with a little salt. Cook the baked vegan bacon strips on a hot pan with a little oil until crispy and add that on top of the tomatoes. Top the bacon with freshly cut creamy avocado and slice the sandwich in half. You can serve with crunchy potato chips and enjoy.
