Like every year, the fashion world gathered in New York on the first Monday of May (May 1, 2023) to celebrate art, craft and couture. The annual Met Gala recently took place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. This year, the event honored the late German fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld with a theme based on the Costume Institute's spring show "Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty". In attendance were Priyanka Chopra, Nick Jonas, Alia Bhatt, Kim Kardashian, Rihanna and Isha Ambani to name a few. Along with fashion, food also played a major role in the Met Gala celebration. We looked into this year's dinner menu, and it was as spectacular as the theme.
According to a report in Vogue, the culinary concept for Met Gala 2023 was inspired by one of Lagerfeld's most famous soirees - the wedding reception he hosted for French fashion designer and artist Pablo Picasso's daughter Paloma Picasso.

This year, famed caterer Olivier Cheng recreated Lagerfeld's soiree of 1978. The tables at the event were organised with linen napkins, vintage chinaware, hand-painted candle stands, and a bouquet of pink flowers at the centre. In the background was a setup that was inspired by the designer's home library.
Food And Drinks:
The menu included chilled spring pea soup with baby vegetables, lemon creme fraiche, and truffle snow. It was followed by Ora King salmon with vegetable nage, asparagus, pickled strawberries, and radish for the main course. The meal was followed by various bite-sized confectionaries (petit fours) to bring a sweet ending to the event. For drinks, there were wine and diet coke - one of the favourite soft drinks of Lagerfeld.
