A photograph in which UP police personnel is seen feeding an elderly woman with his hand has gone viral on social media. Sitting under a tree, the police officer is seen giving the woman a morsel from a red-coloured plate placed between the two of them. Paralympian Rinku Hooda shared the picture on Twitter and wrote the caption in Hindi, which roughly translates to, "Another face of the police. Salute." At the time of writing, nearly 6,500 people had already liked Hooda's tweet, which had also been retweeted by almost 500 users.
People on the micro-blogging site lauded this human side of the police, who are otherwise often seen to be strict disciplinarians. Reacting to Hooda's tweet, a user said that what the policeman was doing in the picture should be taught to others as well. "Nice Work there."
Another user wrote in Hindi, translated here in English, "Conscience is crucial for humanity to survive. Salute to people like the one in the picture who love humanity."
Here are more reactions to the picture:
Hooda, a 17-year-old, Indian para javelin thrower competes in the F-46 category. He was also a member of the Indian team at the 2016 Summer Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. On his Twitter handle, Hooda regularly shares stories of passion, dedication and humanity. On Tuesday morning, he shared a picture of a differently-abled farmer and captioned it: "They are farmers. Don't ever consider them weak."
Similarly, in another post, captioned: "Passion", Hooda shared the picture of a kid on crutches playing football.
On Sunday, Hooda shared a snap of a huge tree standing bang in the middle of the road with its branches spread on both sides. A car can be seen parked under the shade of a tree. Hooda said: "If you want to live, love trees".
