Online food delivery always comes to the rescue when hunger strikes, even at the odd hours of the day. Be it a pizza in 30 minutes or the search for a fine dining restaurant for a date, online food delivery apps have surely made our lives infinitely simpler. But amidst all the comfort, we have often ignored what goes behind the scenes. A video, making rounds on the internet, sheds light on the challenges faced by delivery executives, while they make sure that the food reaches you on time. The clip, shared by an Instagram content creator, shows a food delivery agent having just a cup of tea and a biscuit for a meal. In the video, the man, who is wearing a Swiggy uniform, can be seen sitting at a roadside stall dipping biscuits in a cup of tea and eating.
The clip was shared with text on it that read “Jo aapke liye 30 minutes mein khana deliver karta, aksar vo apna pet sirf biscuit chai se bhar paata hai…(He who delivers your food in 30 minutes, often fills his stomach only with biscuits and tea.) In no time, users flooded the comments section with reactions. A few suggested tipping the delivery agents. A comment read, “Tip them. Please. 30-50 rupees from our pocket is nothing but a lot for them. Imagine 50-100 tips, their lives can be a lot better.”
Another called it a “least paid job with lots of patience and effort.” Some suggested changes in policies of food aggregators. “Companies should give them two meals a day, and it must be a policy,” read a comment
This clip comes a few months after another food delivery agent was seen having lunch from a plastic bag. The heart-melting clip went crazy viral, wherein the man was seen standing next to his bike, in a parking lot, and eating what looked like rice, out of a plastic bag.
