Don't we all look forward to birthday celebrations? A gorgeous set-up with balloons and party decorations, friends and family, as well as a delicious spread of food. Oh, we missed the most integral element of the celebrations - a cake. Birthdays seem to be incomplete without a yummilicious cake. But, not for Fatou, the oldest gorilla alive. Fatou celebrated her 66th birthday on April 13. On her special day, Zoo Berlin, instead of a cake, presented her with a basket filled with delicious vegetables and fruits including strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, pumpkin, green leafy vegetables, pomegranate, and watermelon among other things. Notably, the watermelon even had “66” engraved on it. FYI: Berries are Fatou's favourite foods. The social media page of the zoo shared a bunch of photographs showcasing the senior gorilla devouring the natural delicacies.

Alongside the adorable pictures, Zoo Berlin wrote, “The gorilla lady turned 66 today – and of course, that has to be celebrated! For her special day, the senior received a richly filled gift basket and a delicious bouquet of all kinds of vegetables and fruit. The oldest gorilla in the world particularly liked strawberries, raspberries and blueberries: No wonder, because berries are her favourite food and she doesn't get them every day.”

Sharing the objective behind the vegetable and fruit basket, Zoo Berlin wrote, “Since fruit contains a lot of fructose, vegetables are almost exclusively on the menu. The birthday delicacies were therefore carefully selected by our team.”
