If you have ever travelled from Delhi to Amritsar by road, you know how fun it can be! It's not only about spending time with your friends and family, listening to music, or simply talking your heart out. One of the major reasons that some of us absolutely enjoy going on road trips is to eat that Dhaba-style food! And especially when you are travelling on the Delhi-Amritsar highway, you are in for a treat! The highway is decorated with a line of dhabas that give you an unforgettable taste and dishes which you'll only find there. However, if you cannot travel right now and still want to indulge in that lip-smacking taste, you are in luck! Novotel in Aerocity inaugurated the first Delhi to Amritsar food event on 22nd April, 2022, at Food Exchange. The event will go on till May 1, 2022.
As soon as you enter the Food Exchange hall, you'll find it decked with the road signs that instantly remind you of a highway. Inside the hall, beautiful Punjabi style decorations, lights and khatias amp up the feel of the dhabas.
Coming to the food, the menu was specially curated by Chef Om Prakash and the restaurant manager Sandeep. They travelled to various dhabas for a month and decided upon the classic dishes that you would get to have at the event.
For vegetarians, one can easily find the option of chaap, paneer, dal, chole, mixed vegetable sabzis, and a variety of naan, plain rice, and pulao! From the vegetarian section, we highly recommend you to try out their butter dal along with a garlic naan! The butter dal had the perfect subtle flavour that will make you crave more for it. Oh, and if you are someone who can have heavy foods and drinks, then we also recommend you to try out the lassi! Trust us; you'll be surprised with the huge glass you'll be served.
Coming to the non-vegetarian items, you'll find delicious starters and the main course lined up with mutton dishes, chicken, fish, dal, sabzis and more! However, one of the items from the non-vegetarian section which truly stood out was the chajju ke tikka.
As for the desserts, you'll find crisp jalebis, chocolate pastries, lemon tarts and more decadent treats.
All things sound absolutely delicious right? Well, that's not the end of it! There are also live counters and chaat counters for those who enjoy that street-style taste. So, if you want to enjoy that Amritsari Dhaba taste, you should surely attend the Highway Food event at The Novotel!
