Lachha parathas are a way of making your parathas more interesting by adding flaky layers to them. Instead of cooking a plain roti or paratha, folding the dough in a certain way before cooking can help you get that desired flaky texture. Many people pair their lachha parathas with gravy dishes like paneer sabzi, butter chicken or dal makhani. Lachha parathas are prepared using wheat flour and you can also make them more flavourful by adding some minced garlic, dried mint leaves, some salt, chilly powder and so on. Let's check out different ways of folding a lachha paratha.

Here Are 5 Ways Of Folding A Lachha Paratha:

1. Triangle Lachha Paratha

To make the full and delicious triangle lachha parathas, take a ball of dough and roll it slightly so that it remains thick. Add a little ghee to it and spread uniformly with your fingers. Now fold the rolled dough into half and then another half to get that triangle shape. Gently roll out this triangle-shaped dough. Cook on the tawa from both sides and serve hot with dahi, chutney, achaar or any other dal or sabzi of your choice.

2. Square Lachha Paratha

Take a ball of dough, roll it slightly thick, spread some ghee on top of it and cover uniformly. Now for a square shape, fold the dough in from all four sides, pressing it gently with each fold, to get a squared-shaped dough. Roll it gently, cook well and serve hot.

3. Spiral Lachha Paratha

To make this popular lachha paratha shape, begin by thinly rolling out the dough. Put some ghee and spread it uniformly. Now taking one edge, start tightly rolling the dough like clay. Once you have a long dough ready, hold one edge and start rolling and wrapping the rest of the dough around it in a spiral. Tuck in the other edge and gently press the dough. Your spiral dough is ready, roll it out and cook well. You can also crush it a little from out to in, to get those flaky layers to pop out after cooking.

4. Strips Lachha Paratha

For this folding method, roll out your ball of dough into a thin, round paratha. Sprinkle some dry atta on top. Now take a knife and cut the dough into long strips. Place the strips on top of each other and then roll them into a spiral. Roll out the dough and cook the paratha well from both sides.

5. Round Cut Paratha

To make this unique lachha paratha fold, once you have rolled out your dough and spread a little ghee, atta powder, spices and herbs, fold the dough in from left and right and then roll from bottom to top to get a cylindrical shape. Fold it further to get a round shape and then make a cut at the soft centre, open it and you will see circles inside. Tap it gently with your fingers, roll it and cook it on the tawa. Enjoy!
