Diabetes may be difficult to manage but not impossible. The best way to go about it is by revamping your diet and including diabetes-friendly meals and drinks. There are scores of foods that are known to benefit diabetics. At the same time, there are many drinks like spice-infused water and herbal teas, which have shown a significant contribution in handling the condition. If you are someone who can't have bland foods and drinks and likes to spice them up, this vibrant ginger green chilli tea is for you.

Ginger green chilli tea is great for regulating high blood sugar. Ginger carries the ability to stimulate the production of insulin. A study, published in the journal Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine, points out that ginger has a potential blood-sugar controlling mechanism. The spice can regulate enzymes that affect how carbs are metabolised, leading to better glucose absorption in the muscles.

Adding spice, flavour and health-benefiting properties to the tea, green chilli is considered very good for boosting immunity. Green chillies are packed with antioxidants, Vitamin C and beta-carotene, making them perfect to enhance the flavour of the drink and making it the ideal drink to keep us safe from seasonal flu in this weather.

Ginger Green Chilli Tea Recipe For Diabetes And Immunity Diet

Ingredients -
(Makes 2 cups)

2 cups water
1 cup milk
1-inch ginger, crushed
1 tsp fennel seeds
1 green chilli, slit
2 tsp honey/jaggery (optional)

Method:

Step 1 - Boil water with ginger, fennel seeds, and green chilli. Let it simmer for 2-3 minutes.
Step 2 - Add tea leaves and simmer for one minute.
Step 3 - Add milk and boil again. Simmer for some time if you like your tea strong.
Step 4 - Strain the tea, add a healthier sweetener like honey and jaggery and serve.

If you want to skip adding any sweetener in the tea, you can do totally without it. Fennel seeds and ginger add a dash of sweetness to the tea, which will cut the spiciness of green chilli and will give you a pleasant, mildly sweet and spicy tea.

Enjoy this immunity-boosting tea on nippy winter evenings and stay protected from cold, cough and other seasonal flu.
