Chanar dalna is a unique potato and chanar (cottage cheese) curry. Chanar is basically paneer, but with a slightly different texture and taste. To make this curry, potatoes and chanar are pan-fried until golden brown and then cooked in a spicy and tangy tomato gravy. The result is this lip-smacking curry that is sure to delight your taste buds. It is also perfect for those who avoid adding onions to their dishes since it includes no onions. Bengali-Style Chanar Dalna Recipe | How To Make Bengali-Style Chanar Dalna
Start by cutting the potatoes and tomatoes into roughly chopped cubes. Now, mix red chilli powder and haldi with some water to make a paste. Heat oil in a pan and add the potatoes. Fry them until they turn golden brown in colour. In the same pan, add the chanar (cottage cheese) and fry it too. In the remaining oil, add dried red chilies, bay leaves, and cumin seeds. Saute for a minute or two, and then add the chopped tomatoes. Now, add ginger-garlic paste, cumin powder, and the prepared red chilli powder and haldi paste. Mix well and add sugar, salt, and water. Cook until the oil starts to separate from the mixture. Next, add the fried potatoes and chana to the mixture, cover the pan with a lid, and cook on a medium flame for 10-15 minutes. Finally, add garam masala and ghee to the gravy and give it a nice mix. Bengali chanar dalna is ready to be relished!
