Pepper chicken, also known as doi morich in Bengal, is a creamy and flavourful chicken dish. In this recipe, chicken pieces are marinated with curd and ginger-garlic paste and then cooked in a rich, aromatic curry. The addition of cashew paste is what gives the dish its unique taste, whereas the black pepper adds to its spiciness. You can also customise the amount of black pepper used in it as per your liking.
What Can You Serve With Bengali-Style Pepper Chicken?
Bengali-style pepper chicken tastes best when it is paired with steamed rice. But if you do not wish to have rice, you can also pair it with roti or paratha. Additionally, you could also have some pickles along with it to further enhance the taste of the dish. This provides an interesting contrast of flavours for the palate.

How To Make Bengali-Style Pepper Chicken | Bengali-Style Pepper Chicken Recipe
First, marinate the chicken with curd and ginger-garlic paste. Keep it in the refrigerator for at least 2-3 hours. Now soak the cashew nuts in a bowl of hot water for a few minutes, and then grind them to form a smooth paste. In a pan, heat mustard oil and add dry red chillies, black peppercorns, and chopped onion.
Saute for about 2-3 minutes, or until the onions turn golden brown. Add the marinated chicken and mix well. Next, add the coriander powder and salt and continue cooking over a low flame. Finally, add the prepared cashew paste and black pepper powder. Mix well and add some warm water. Cover the lid and cook until the chicken is fully cooked. Sprinkle some more black pepper on top, and serve hot!
