High blood pressure (or hypertension) is a condition characterised by raised blood pressure levels. It is a fairly common condition that occurs when force if blood against artery walls is too high. According to a study, published in the Journal of Cardiovascular Pharmacology, piperine is a compound found in black pepper that can help in controlling high blood pressure. Black pepper is also a decent source of potassium that helps negate ill-effects of sodium. You can sprinkle it over your salads, soups and meals, it will instantly perk up your fare in no time.
You can also use black pepper to make a soothing tea. Here's a recipe that is always a delight.
Ingredients:
- 1 tsp black pepper
- Half inch ginger, grated
- 1 tsp tea leaves (of your choice)
- 1 cup milk
Method:
1. Take a vessel, add ginger and a large cup of water, bring it to boil.
2. Add the tea leaves once water is boiled followed by milk. Let it steep for two minutes.
3. Add black pepper. You can add sugar for taste.
4. Put off the heat, serve the tea hot.
