Does your family make you sip on homemade kadha whenever you are sick? Well, this is a common scenario in every Indian household. Seasonal health issues don't spare anyone. These days, every other person you know is dealing with either cold or cough because of the weather conditions. Sometimes, this is also accompanied by flu or fever. During such situations, home remedies come to the rescue. Yes, you can always go to the doctor and take medications but since cold and cough are common, sometimes they can be taken care of at home. Ever heard of mulethi? Do you know this herb plays an important role in helping you deal with seasonal cold and cough? Nutritionist Lovneet Batra shared on her Instagram Stories mentioning a flavourful kadha – mulethi (liquorice) and saunf (fennel seeds) kadha. Not just cold and cough, a mulethi drink also plays a pivotal role in helping women deal with PCOS. Although there are many medical treatments available to manage PCOS, nutritionist Lovneet Batra recommends having muleti drink at home which can be equally effective.

How can you make this healthy drink? Boil a piece of a 3-inch-long mulethi bark in water and consume it first thing in the morning. In PCOS, elevated androgen levels in women with PCOS may worsen their menstrual cycle issues. Mulethi may help in balancing hormones inside the body.

There are many desi super drinks that you can prepare at home for a healthy lifestyle. “What we drink can be more powerful in making or breaking our health than what we eat. So, find your tonic and sip it,” adds Lovneet. She talks about amla ginger juice (smoke antidote), shatavari water (hormonal balance), sattu (muscle strengthener) and wheatgrass juice (energy booster).

Do you consume any of these drinks at home?
