Placing online food orders is a trend that continues to grow. Whether you want some pizza while travelling on a train or need a cake to surprise your friend on their birthday, more and more people are choosing online food delivery. Zomato has unveiled some interesting trends and analysis from orders on the food delivery app in 2024. The "Zomanews 2024 ordering bulletin", presented like a news bulletin, featured data and insights for different cities, different foods and some unusual non-food searches.
When it came to placing a large number of orders, Bangalore placed 30 lakh more orders than Mumbai. However, in generosity, Mumbai stole the spotlight by tipping Rs 3 crore more than Bangalore.
Bangalore is not the only city with massive orders. In 2024, Delhi-NCR placed 12.4 crore which was still more than combining total orders from Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, and Haryana (10.5 crore).

Many people order hot and freshly packed food from restaurants during a train journey. Which railway station witnessed the maximum Zomato orders? Kanpur Central with 86,753 orders.
Apart from insights for locations, Zomato also revealed that September 22, 2024, was a special day with most cake orders on a non-festive day. Perhaps a day with a lot of birthdays?
Lastly, some unusual searches on the app were also identified. 4940 people searched for 'girlfriend' and 40 people searched for 'dulhan' on the Zomato app.
