Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Union Budget 2025, introducing key initiatives to support economic growth and inclusivity. One of the major announcements was the proposal to set up a Makhana Board in Bihar. This move aims to strengthen the makhana industry and support local farmers. Makhana, also known as foxnuts, is an important crop in Bihar, widely grown and consumed. The 'One District One Product' scheme has already helped makhana farmers, and the Makhana Research Center has been recognized as a national institution. Makhana has also received a Geographical Indication (GI) tag, boosting its market value.
