However, his achievement came to light after the official Instagram page of Guinness World Records shared the video. The official GWR site revealed that “Aaron had previously held this record and wanted to reclaim it. It required dedication to practice, technique and mental focus to throw the tortilla to distances he never thought possible!” Sharing the video, GWR wrote, “Farthest tortilla throw 36.34 m (119 ft 3 in) by Aaron Nienaber.”

This world record left the internet amused. Several users in the comments section pointed out that nowadays many “random” world records are being made. A comment read, “Why are there so many random records? It's getting out of control.”

A user quizzed, “What's next? Longest frying pan throw?”

Another commented, “What's next? The longest throw of a car?”

Some said that this way people are “disrespecting food.”

It must be noted that before Aaron Nienaber, this record was reportedly set by a British man, Oliver Miles, who covered a distance of 90 feet, 11 inches. He decided to attempt this world record after watching a YouTube video during the COVID-19 lockdown. He achieved the feat in 2022. In a conversation with GWR, Oliver revealed that initially when he was trying the record, he could only achieve a throw of 30 feet,1 inch. But practice made him better.

Before Oliver Miles, the farthest tortilla throw world record was held by Idaho's David Rush, who threw a tortilla 54 feet, 5 inches away. This feat was achieved back in 2019.
