When it comes to coffee, all of us have our own preferences. Some like it hot, some like it cold, dark, milky etc. But have you ever tried a cup of coffee with a giant blob of butter mixed in it? No, we are not talking about the time your friend pranked you by adding something ‘extra' to your coffee when you weren't looking. Butter coffee is a real drink and a rather popular one at that. This video by food blogger Amar Sirohi (@foodie.incarnate ) that is going viral on Instagram featured a stall near Jama Masjid where the owner sells unique beverages like butter coffee and butter tea, and the internet has had a meltdown of sorts.

The stall owner also demonstrated the making of the coffee. In a jug partially filled with some coffee and milk, he adds another cup of milk. After this, he cuts half a slab of salted butter and adds the same to the jug, followed by coffee powder and sugar. The coffee is then steamed in an old-timey machine that you often spot in Indian weddings. The coffee is served hot in bone-china cups and is finished off with a sprinkling of cocoa powder.
The owner said that he has been selling the beverage near Jama Masjai, Bakhtawar Haveli, for more than 20 years now. The drink has salty and buttery overtones, and while you either expect your coffee to be either sweet or bitter - this butter coffee could be a nice experiment, especially for those who identify as coffee enthusiasts. While a lot of people in the comments were horrified by the idea, some also appreciated the novelty of the beverage.
“Believe me, this coffee is better, just another way of having bulletproof coffee”, wrote a user.
“Bhai butter always gives your coffee a smooth texture. North Americans ???????? are a very big fan of it. Note butter supposed to be unsalted.”, wrote another.
