When it comes to tea-time snacking, nothing quite hits the spot like a classic samosa. These triangular delights, loaded with flavours, are surprisingly simple to make. Just knead some all-purpose flour, create small dough balls, flatten them into rounds, stuff them with spicy potato masala, and fold them in a triangle shape. Fry the samosas until they're golden and have a crispy outer. Once done, the samosas are ready to be devoured. While samosas are readily available at local sweet shops, can you believe there's a factory churning out a staggering 25,000 samosas every single day?! You read that right! Recently, a video went viral featuring this automatic machine churning out a large number of samosas with the help of some workers.
In the viral video, large quantities of potatoes are loaded into a drum-shaped machine for thorough washing and peeling. Then they are transferred to another appliance for boiling. Next, they are evenly mashed with masala and chopped coriander in a container. Meanwhile, the dough is prepared and flattened with the help of machines. Workers step in to cut the dough into their desired shapes and fill them with the aloo masala. At the end, these samosas are fried in hot oil until golden brown and are served alongside green chillies. The voice note, in the background of the viral video, states that the samosas are available at Rs 12 per piece.

The video has so far accumulated over nine million views till now. In the comments section, thousands of viewers voiced concerns about the “sub-par” quality of the cooking oil used for frying the desi delight. One of the users named it "diesel fried samosa.” Another person called it, “Kala Tel [black oil].”
People were also of the opinion that the samosas have been overpriced. A person commented, “12 rupees ka 1 samosa mere yaha to 7 rupees me ek milta hai [Rs 12 for one samosa, but I can get one for just Rs 7 at a local shop]” Someone further did a rough calculation and wrote, “3 lakh ke samose ek din mein bech dete hai [They sell samosas worth Rs 3 lakh in one day].”
