What comes to your mind when we say coconut water? Few of the quickest replies are - tropical, refreshing and hydrating. A summer staple, coconut water is considered one of the best ways to combat the heat outside. Besides quenching thirst, it also helps prevent dehydration, promote digestion and metabolism and load you up with vitamin C, potassium, manganese and several essential nutrients. Dr. Anju Sood, a Bangalore-based nutritionist, explains, "Coconut water consists of various vitamins and minerals that help replenish the electrolytes in the body. It hydrates your body and keeps you fresh through the day."

Today, we easily find packaged coconut water in the supermarkets. But nothing can beat the goodness of the fresh ones, available at every street corner. 'Thelawalas' (person who sells food on carts) opening tender coconut with a machete and serving with a plastic straw is a very common sight across India. But have you come across a fancy and technologically advanced coconut water cart yet? Yes, you heard us.

We recently came across a video on social media that features a cart from Indore that (as per the video uploader) serves fresh coconut water in the most 'hygienic' way possible. Originally published by a Facebook user named Foodie_incarnate, this video shows coconut water being cut open by an automatic tool, instead of manually using machete or sickle. It is then strained through a sieve-like machine and served clean in a glass.

"Up to punching it's OK, but no need to filter and serve in a plastic glass.

Just serve whole coconut with a straw," wrote an user.

"Hygienic is fine but it's a serious blow to the environment Bcz they use plastic cups, straws etc. no need for that. I would prefer to drink directly from coconut using a bamboo or metal straw," another comment read.
