The phenomenal cricketer David Warner is famous for making a historical international debut in 2009. He is the current Vice Captain of the Australian team. You'd be surprised to know that Warner is the first Australian cricketer in 132 years to be selected for a national team without experience in first-class cricket.  On 7 November 2015, Warner became the third batsman in history of test cricket to score centuries in both innings of a test match thrice, after Sunil Gavaskar and Ricky Ponting. At the 2017 Allan Border Awards, he was awarded Australia's ODI Player of the year and the elusive AB Medal. According to the official ICC Player Rankings, published in December 2015, he was ranked fifth in the list of top 10 Test batsmen in the world. Warner is known for favouring the aerial route with his very charming left-handed batting style, and ability to switch hit, using the back of his bat or by taking a right-handed stance.(Virat Kohli: All About His Diet and Fitness)

Talking about his path to fitness, Warner has always considered Wayne Geber a mentor since he was seven-years-old. Geber has been his fitness trainer officially but he is considered much more than that and Warner has often been quoted saying that he inspires him the most. A former teammate of Warner's older brother Steve, Geber has known the cricket for more than 20 years now! Warner has always been a great athlete but Geber helped him gain endurance over many years of training

Back in 2013, Geber coached him to get back into the shape of his life after being dismissed from the team for punching an English player at a bar in England during the Champions Trophy. He use that time to train really hard and get fit. Warner would always up at 5 am to train with Geber in the eastern suburbs, and he would sometimes train again in the afternoon. Geber is also known to have put him on a low-carb and high-protein diet to support his short and sharp sessions of about 30 minutes which he followed at least four times in a week. His workout routine involved a lot of plyometrics, hill sprints, boxing and weights. In a short span of three months after getting back from England, Warner lost 9 kilograms and put on 3 kilograms muscle weight. He has also confessed that waking up early used to be challenge for him but all that changed with Geber's support and focus on his goal. That was then, today he is obviously more stronger, fitter and committed. Other than breaking his thumb once and not being able to play, David Warner hasn’t missed a game of cricket in years. This is to say that he takes his fitness and daily nutrition very seriously. He has played close to 50 tests plus all his one-dayers and Twenty-20s.Disclaimer:The opinions expressed within this article are the personal opinions of the author.
