Fusion food is a rage on the internet. After all, they bring the combined elements of different culinary traditions to your plate. It pushes the envelope on creativity a bit further with each recipe. Something similar happened when an American chef came up with a lip-smacking dish. Combining a Chinese-American dish with Indian flavours, Eitan Bernath came up with General Tso's Chicken Tikka Masala. The celebrity chef and author dropped a video demonstrating the preparation of the fusion dish. The video has garnered a substantial number of views, and people are warmly embracing his endeavour with heaps of affection.
The video opens with Eitan Bernath saying, “Let's make General Tso's chicken tikka masala.” He starts by heating oil in a pan and adding cumin and cardamom. Then, he adds sliced onions, garlic and ginger paste, and chopped green chillies. Next, he can be seen putting in various spices like salt, pepper, turmeric, Kashmiri chilli powder, cumin powder, and coriander powder. He also adds tomato paste and puree. To make the sauce rich in consistency, he pours in coconut milk. After simmering and reducing the mixture, he squeezes lemon juice and adds a bit of sugar with a pinch of salt.
To marinate the chicken, Eitan Bernath in a separate bowl, combines soy sauce, an egg, and cornstarch, whisking them into a smooth mixture. He dips cubed chicken breasts into this mixture, ensuring they are completely marinated. Then, he deep-fries the chicken pieces to perfection. Once they turn golden brown, he blends them with the prepared gravy. And finally, General Tso's Chicken Tikka Masala is ready to be served.
