  • His feat at the World Athletics Championship was appreciated
  • Here's what he eats and a few glimpses of his daily diet

Neeraj Chopra has once again filled India with pride as he scripted history by winning the country's first-ever gold medal at the World Athletics Championship in Budapest 2023. The Javelin thrower had earlier come into the spotlight after he won a gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. But it's not just his remarkable athletic journey that captures people's attention. Fans are equally curious about his life off the field, including his eating habits and strict diet regime. In an interview with ESPN that resurfaced recently, Neeraj talked about how much he loves having gol gappas as go-to fast food and how it is a safe choice for all athletes.

Neeraj Chopra said, “I think there is no harm in eating gol gappas. It's mostly water and most of your stomach gets filled with water. The papri is quite big but the amount of flour is very little. It's mostly water that's going inside you. There is some amount of spice but that's another matter.” He also stated that the quantity of flour in golgappas is similar to what's in a couple of rotis. “Even if you think you are eating a lot, you are mostly filling yourself with water. Of course, I wouldn't suggest you have them daily but I think it's ok for an athlete to have a few gol gappas once in a while”, he added.

Curious about what Neeraj Chopra eats the most? Well, it's nothing fancy. He has a soft spot for the simple combo of bread and omelette. With a casual remark, he shared, “I can eat bread and omelette any time of the week. I probably eat that more often than anything.”

Much like us, the star athlete finds joy in indulging in sweets on cheat days. While he keeps his distance from sugary delights on ordinary days, the taste of victory might occasionally call for a sweet treat. And when it does, his preferred option is none other than homemade churma. Neeraj explained, “If after I win I want to have a cheat meal, I'll usually eat something sweet. I usually restrict the amount of sweets I eat normally so when I get the chance to have a cheat meal, I'll usually eat a lot of sweets. I don't even care what kind of sweets they are. What I really like is fresh homemade churma (crushed roti with sugar and ghee).”

We wish Neeraj Chopra countless victories and many more delicious meals for his upcoming life.
