It needs time, dedication, expertise, and most importantly, immense passion. We find people spending days and months nurturing their plants to grow fruits and vegetables. One such person from Israel took his love for farming a step ahead. Ariel Chahi from Kadima-Zoran, Israel, recently grew a gigantic strawberry that weighed almost 300 grams. That's not all. The Guinness World Records (GWR) recently confirmed it to be world's heaviest strawberry - it weighed 289 grams (299 grams with the stem) and was 18 cm long, 4 cm thick and 34 cm in circumference. You read that right!

According to the official GWR website, this strawberry is of the Ilan variety and was grown by Ariel's family business "Strawberries in the Field". GWR also took to Instagram to share a video featuring how it was determined to be world's heaviest strawberry. Take a look:

As per the video, Ariel first weighed an iPhone XR and then the strawberry on a weighing machine. The iPhone XR weighed 194 grams - almost 100 grams lesser than the giant strawberry. He then took a measuring tape to measure the length, breadth, and circumference of the strawberry. The video amused people on the internet, garnering more than 700k views and 62k likes in less than 10 hours.

For the unversed, the previous record for world's heaviest strawberry was made in January 2015. The strawberry, grown by Koji Nakao from Japan, weighed 250 grams. It was of the Japanese variety of strawberry called Amaou.
