The reels video was shared on Instagram by the popular blogger duo @hungrycruisers. It has received over 10k likes and 120k views. Located in the Lal Darwaza region of Ahmedabad, it is apparently a 72-year-old restaurant. The story is that the owner of the restaurant, Krishnan Kutti, brought land in Ahmedabad and he didn't know that it was in a cemetery. However, he decided to build a food outlet without disturbing the graves. Thus, there is a seating area built around graves and coffins that are cleaned up daily and adorned with fresh flowers. The most popular items on their menu are bun maska and chai.
As per the bloggers, the restaurant was one of the favourites of legendary painter M.F. Hussain. "The restaurant which runs with the motto of "respect the dead, as you respect the living" was one of the favourite places of a legendary artist M.F. Hussain. He even gifted a self-made painting to the owner which, to date, adds charm to the place," reads the caption to the post.
A number of internet users reacted to the cafe built around graves. Some felt that this was not a good idea and the living should respect the dead. "Respect the dead and don't make a commercial place on top of their dead bodies and put their grave on display," said one user. "This is unique," argued another one while another said, "This is something new!"
