Idli is one of the most loved South Indian delicacies. These soft and fluffy rice cakes are typically eaten for breakfast, paired with sambar and chutney. It is not just popular in South India, but also has fans all across the country. But how would you react if someone experimented with the humble idli and made something creative with it? We recently came across a video in which a street food vendor has given a unique twist to idli. He has combined it with chocolate! This bizarre chocolate idli has left foodies disappointed.

A video of this bizarre chocolate idli was shared on Instagram by user @thegreatindianfoodie. The video shows a man spreading chocolate-idli batter onto a banana leaf, putting it on a tray, and then into the steamer. Once it's done, he takes it out and drizzles a generous amount of chocolate syrup and candy sprinkles on top. That's not all; he also pairs it with some chocolate ice cream before serving it to the customer. The caption of the video reads, "Chocolate idli with hot sauce and tasty ice cream." It seems that the idea of mixing chocolate with idli did not go well with internet users. Some were left totally confused, while others disapproved of it. The clip has received over 358K views and 4.2K likes since it was posted. "Why are people ruining the good old-style food? Ice cream pani puri. Now this," read a comment. Another person wrote, "Kill us instead of these modifications." A third comment read, "Yahi bach gaya tha dekhna life mein (This was left to see in life)." Another person wrote, "Nope, rejected." A comment also read, "Isn't it stupid to cook it with normal idli? Don't they get the flavour of chocolate?"

This is not the only time idli has been the subject of food experimentation. Earlier, in January, a picture of idlis carved into the shape of a popsicle went viral on the internet.
