Bengal's 'Mistanna' To Promote Bengali Sweets Globally

"Mistanna", a centre to promote Mishti or Bengali Sweets globally will be setup by the West Bengal Government, ahead of Durga Puja. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee made the announcement last week in Kolkata. The Centre will promote Bengal's famous sweets and ensure that some of these old recipes are preserved along with Geographical Identification or GI tags for these products. NDTV visited Balaram Mullick, a very famous sweet shop chain in Kolkata to find out what makes Bengali sweets so popular and what draws people to Kolkata to sample these sweets.
