What Makes Dahi Tadka Kala Chana Salad So Special?

Dahi Tadka Kala Chana salad is an easy-to-make recipe that is perfect for when you crave something nutritious and tasty. Its star ingredient, kala chana, is packed with protein, iron, fibre, folate and antioxidants. Plus, kala chana, as compared to chhole, is higher in protein content that will keep you full and satiated for a long time. When combined with curd, which is rich in probiotics, and vegetables, this salad makes for a complete meal by itself. Plus, it is extremely versatile so you can add other ingredients of your choice!

Can You Make Dahi Tadka Kala Chana Salad Ahead Of Time?

Dahi Tadka Kala Chana Salad tastes best when consumed fresh and immediately. However, if you want to save time and make it ahead of time, prepare the ingredients. Cook the kala chana as per your preferred method and then store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. Chop your vegetables of choice ahead of time and store them in the refrigerator. This will save you time while assembling the salad. For dahi, we would recommend you prepare it fresh and on the spot. This is because this yoghurt dressing will contain salt and spices that can make it sour if kept for too long. Assemble the salad last minute for a protein-packed meal!

To make this salad, start by chopping vegetables – onions, tomatoes, carrots, cucumber – or any other of your choice. Set it aside. In a tempering pan, heat some oil. Now add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, hing and some curry leaves. Let them splutter and then add salt, chopped garlic, turmeric powder and Kashmiri red chilli powder to the pan. After 30 seconds, remove it from the gas flame. Take one cup of curd and beat it. Once done, mix the tempering with the curd. Add chopped coriander leaves and roasted cumin seeds on top of it and mix well. Keep it aside. In a bowl, take one cup of boiled chana and combine it with chopped veggies and beaten curd. Additionally, you can top it with some paneer or tofu. Add a pinch of turmeric powder, red chilli powder, chaat masala, and lemon juice. Mix all the ingredients and serve!
