Hosting friends and family at home for dinners is evolving. What was once simply about planning a menu and welcoming guests has shifted into something far more experiential. Today, hosts are looking to recreate the ambience, finesse, and seamless service of a restaurant without stepping outside their living rooms. And a new wave of "dining experience curators" is helping shape this trend.
Curating, Not Catering
Sakshi M. Kaura, founder of Savour by SK, notes that the industry has moved beyond the traditional idea of catering. "We don't even call ourselves caterers," she says. Her team describes their work as "Signature Dining Experience Curation," with an emphasis on storytelling through plating, service, and atmosphere.
One of their formats, the Silver Sit-Down Experience, mirrors a formal restaurant tasting menu-often spanning seven to nine courses-designed to bring refinement, rhythm, and restaurant-style precision into private homes.
Health-Conscious Meets Indulgent
With diners increasingly mindful about what they eat, home entertaining has also taken a healthier turn. Savour by SK's "Healthy x Indulgent" approach reflects this shift, where gluten-free, dairy-light, and low-carb dishes appear alongside richer classics, such as truffle risotto or molten chocolate fondant.
Kaura explains that the idea is to remove the dilemma between eating clean and enjoying comforting food. "Everything we serve is made the way I'd make it at home-fresh, balanced, yet flavourful," she says.
Setting The Mood: Decor And Detail
Food is just one layer of the experience. Table styling and decor have become central to the new hosting culture, where dining rooms are transformed through flowers, textures, lighting, and thematic storytelling. This attention to detail has made curated dining experiences popular for intimate gatherings across Delhi and Gurugram, particularly among those seeking something personal yet luxurious.
Rise Of Luxury Dining At Home
As the culture of at-home gatherings grows, many hosts are choosing to replicate the ease of dining out without leaving home. For some, it's about the comfort; for others, it's the luxury of having a trained team take care of service while the kitchen is returned to spotless order afterwards.
The appeal lies in blending the finesse of a restaurant with the warmth of a home - bringing together the skills of a chef, the eye of a stylist, and the sensibility of a thoughtful host.
