Indian breakfast recipes have a lot of staples. Some of us enjoy parathas, some poha, and some basic bread and chai. However, many of us find comfort in a plate of delicious upma paired with a cup of tea. This popular South-Indian meal traditionally made using suji, spices, and water is a quick and easy breakfast delight. It is fulfilling to the core, and one can also pack it and have it any time. Since this dish is famous across the country, many people have made their own versions of upma and experimented with it. Because of this, we have many upma recipes to devour. So, to introduce you to one more such variation, here we bring you a new recipe of bread dahi upma. This recipe is by Chef Ranveer Brar. Chef Ranveer posts many yummy recipes on his social media; this dahi bread upma is a new recipe by him.

As the name suggests, this recipe is made using bread and dahi. If you are out of suji, this recipe makes for a good substitute for trying. You only need a few basic ingredients to cook this. Plus, you also get the soft texture of the regular upma. Find out the recipe below:

Bread Dahi Upma Recipe: Here's How To Make Bread Dahi Upma:

Ingredients:

  • 6-7 chopped bread pieces
  • 2 tbsp Curd
  • Water
  • Salt to taste
  • 3 tbsp Oil
  • 1 tsp Mustard Seeds
  • 1 tsp Whole Urad Dal
  • 1 tsp Chana Dal
  • 1.5 tbsp Peanut
  • 1 sprig Curry Leaves
  • 1 inch chopped ginger
  • 2-3 fresh Green/Red chillies
  • 1 medium Onion
  • Salt to taste
  • Water
  • 1/2 medium tomato
  • 1 tbsp Ghee
  • 2 tbsp Coriander Leaves - roughly torn

Method:

Mix curd, water, and salt in a bowl. Now add chopped bread slices and keep them aside. In a kadai, heat oil and add mustard seeds, whole urad dal, chana dal peanuts and saute for a minute, then add curry leaves, ginger, green chillies, chopped onion, and mix again. Throw in salt and water, and mix everything properly, then add the soaked bread. Continue cooking for two minutes, add tomatoes and ghee, and finish with coriander leaves. Garnish with chutney and sev, and enjoy!
