Burger is one dish which is versatile and easily adaptable to whichever form it is served in. It can be equally delicious as a quick bite at a fast food joint, and even as a lavish meal at an expensive restaurant. Burgers are no less than a fine-dining affair, with layers of patties, oodles of cheese, crunchy vegetables and tangy sauces. A Colombian restaurant has taken the humble burger and transformed it with an extra layer of extravagance. The 'Oro McCoy' is their recently-launched signature burger plated with a layer of pure 24-karat gold. Take a look at the video:

Toro McCoy is the Columbian restaurant which started selling the novel burger on November 27. They described the preparation as, "A brioche burger bathed in 24-karat Gold with double meat, caramelised bacon, and double cheese." The video introducing the burger has been viewed nearly 90k times and counting. Thousands of users poured in their surprise on seeing the extraordinary creation. Users wanted to know if gold coated upon the burger is in its purest form - which the restaurant claims it is.
Several users also enquired about the price of the 24-karat Gold burger. The restaurant chain wrote on social media that the burger cost a whopping 200,000 Columbian Pesos. This is roughly about 57 US dollars or Rs. 4191/- in India.

This idea of gold-plating a dish isn't a new one. We have earlier seen trends like gold-plated ice creams and dosas surfacing on the internet. The idea is to make the diner feel like royalty with a luxurious dining experience. The use of gold-plating also makes the dish unique and visually appealing.
