A recent video showing candles resembling crispy dosa with bowls of sambar and chutneys went viral on Instagram. In the reel shared by 'houseofdrip._', we get a glimpse into the candle artist's process of creating these foodie-themed delights. The hardest part was crafting the dosa element without a mould, the artist said. She explained that she had to figure out a particular blend of different types of wax that would enable her to fold the dosa shape. In the video, we see her spreading this wax mixture on a flat surface marked with different circular sizes in centimetres. Later, she folds it onto itself to get a semi-circular shape. She uses the non-pointy end of a toothpick to make indents and holes in the dosa shape, making it look more realistic. She shaded it using brown, yellow and orange candle dyes, making it look crisp and well-cooked. In the outer part of the dosa interior, she spread orange wax to make it resemble a chutney layer. She also created a classic aloo (potato) masala with wax and stuffed it inside the dosa shape.

That's not all. She also made the beloved dosa side dishes using wax: sambar, white coconut chutney and spicy tomato chutney. She managed to give each a different texture. For the bowl of sambar, she crafted a piece of drumstick and chillies using wax and garnished the dish with greens and mustard seeds. She gave it a special glaze to make it look more realistic.
