Buying liquor in Tamil Nadu is about to change. The state's liquor retailer, Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation (TASMAC), has launched an online booking system that allows customers to check liquor availability, see prices, pay online, and then collect their order from a TASMAC outlet.
The new portal, Tasmace2e.in, will be available across more than 4,000 TASMAC shops in the state. It is expected to make liquor purchases more transparent and stop customers from being charged more than the Maximum Retail Price (MRP).
How Can You Order Liquor Online In Tamil Nadu?
Customers can visit Tasmace2e.in and browse the liquor brands available at different TASMAC outlets. The portal lets users check which brands are in stock, compare prices, and see the exact MRP before placing an order. Once the payment is completed online, the customer receives a QR code. This QR code must be shown at the selected TASMAC shop while collecting the order.
The portal is not limited to the area where you live. According to multiple reports, customers can search for TASMAC outlets within a radius of 5 km to 25 km or look for shops using the outlet number or district name.
However, unlike states such as Odisha and West Bengal, Tamil Nadu has not introduced home delivery of liquor. Customers will still have to visit the TASMAC outlet they selected while placing the order. The state government has made it clear that the online system is only meant to simplify the buying process and prevent MRP violations, not introduce doorstep delivery.

Who Can Use The Online Service?

Only customers who are 21 years or older can access the portal. Users will have to confirm that they are above the legal drinking age before they can browse or place an order.
TASMAC officials have added that the stock displayed on the website may be around 30 minutes old. This means a particular brand could sell out at the shop even though it still appears available online. If that happens, customers can either choose another TASMAC outlet or get a refund.
According to the website, if an order is not collected from the selected shop, it will automatically be cancelled. The amount paid will be refunded after deducting a Rs 10 handling charge. According to the state government, liquor bookings through the online portal will only be accepted between 12 noon and 10 pm.

One of the biggest reasons to launch this service is to stop overcharging. Since customers can now see the official MRP online and make digital payments, there is less scope for shops to charge extra.
The Website Crashed On Day One
The rollout, however, did not go as planned. According to The Times of India, many customers who tried using the portal on the first day were unable to access it.
Tamil Nadu's Prohibition and Excise Minister K. Vignesh later clarified that the portal would officially go live on Friday. He said the servers had been upgraded to handle heavy traffic.
