Lobia can be easily mistaken as our favourite rajma. A smaller version of kidney beans, lobia (or black eyed beans) is consumed as dal in most of the north Indian households. Since it also tastes like rajma, it is one of the yummiest dals you can think of. When you want taste and healthy in one bowl, lobia is the best thing you can make. Lobia, also known as chawalie and rongi, is also used to make flours, or added in salads and Mediterranean foods like falafel.
Lobia is popularly known as vegetarians' meat, as it is a great source of plant-based proteins. Also, rich in fibre content, it can be a good option to be included in weight loss diet. In fact, lobia is also said to improve cholesterol levels, thus boosting heart health. All these factors make lobia or black eyes beans a must-have legume in your diet.
The following recipe is shared by vegetarian food vlogger Manjula Jain. The quick and easy recipe on YouTube channel 'Manjula's Kitchen' will let you make this delicious treat in just 20 minutes.
